W hen we think about hypnosis training, we often think about therapists who use hypnotherapy to help clients improve their lives or eliminate addictions or other annoying habits. These are all great uses for hypnosis and indeed require training in order for therapists to conduct effective sessions. However there are many other reasons to take a hypnosis training program or course.

Reasons for Hypnosis Training

Doctors and nurses will often attend hypnosis training programs so they can help patients relax before, during and even after medical and dental treatments. The calming voice of a trained hypnotist can help people enter into a relaxed trance state helping to ensure their procedure goes smoothly. It can even help to reduce pain at the same time.

Individuals will even attend hypnotism classes to find out how to do self hypnosis so they can change their own life in the safety of their own homes. They use the techniques they learn to help themselves become more effective in their career, business or personal life. In other words they attend training to learn hypnotic techniques to help themselves, not others.

The Power of the Mind…

Understanding the power of the mind better can give any of us insights into the inner psyche of other people and ourselves as well.

Recently many people have become curious about the unconscious mind and would like to better understand how to control it for a number of different reasons. These people are now attending hypnosis training to get what they want out of life by controlling the mind of others through hypnotic conversation.

Mind Control?

Yes, mind control is one interest in hypnosis that people fear can be used for both good as well as bad purposes and that is the reason many people are fearful of allowing hypnosis training to anyone who has an interest in hypnotism without having other professional backgrounds.

However, no one can take control of another person’s mind. Even in hypnosis no one can make any of us do something that goes against our moral code. We will only do something suggested through a hypnotic trance if we actually wanted to do it in the first place but might be having difficulty doing on our own, such as to stop smoking. In this way we are open to the suggestions that will help us get what we want out of life.

Good or Bad?

I believe there are good and bad uses for almost anything. And limiting the use of something like hypnosis training because there are those who might be looking to misuse it isn’t going to prevent those who want to abuse it from finding out how to do just that. I believe we should provide the best tools and training available so those with an interest can learn the ethical and moral ways to put it to good use.
