Even as far back as the 18th century, street hypnosis was already being put into action. The idea that this is somehow a new found activity is a fallacy. Through the use of what is also known as covert hypnosis, a person trained in these techniques builds up a connection with the person they wish to influence. They begin by creating rapport and setting the stage for a conversation that leads the individual to believe that the hypnotist is on their side and concerned about their best interest.
Once they have the subject right where they want them, suggestions are interjected into the exchange in such a way that the person believes the ideas are actually their own and not those of the person using the street hypnosis. This is done in such a subtle way that the subject is totally unaware of what exactly has taken place.
Conducting Hypnotism on the Street
Street hypnosis as we said earlier, is an old hypnotic practice in which one prudently communicates with a person’s subconscious level, which involves 5/6 of our brains activity. Now, if you have seen someone participate in such activity, you might believe that the subject submits him or herself to the control of the hypnotist expert. This is an opposing idea that the performer has the total control over the subject. Actually, the hypnotist doesn’t have any control over the person but generates the thought provoking illusion that they do indeed have control.
This type of street hypnosis is an indirect form of hypnotism which is also more recently been called conversational hypnosis. But no matter what you want to call it, the purpose is to put someone into a trance during what appears to be normal conversation without their knowledge. In other words the hypnotist has the capability to converse with someone naturally while unconsciously putting them into reverie while taking advantage of this current state.
Street hypnosis is characterized by a subtle but quick hypnotism that entails only a few series of steps. And since rapport and attention are needed in this simple hypnotic induction, a lot of listening, conversing about entertaining topics, and slowly setting off a desire change in the thoughts of the individual is naturally involved.
Things to Consider About Street Hypnosis
Hypnosis can surely take place on a noisy crowded street but it is easier to learn in a more calming and favorable environment. A family member or a close friend may not necessarily be your best subject for practicing but it’s a good place to start. However, they may be a contributing factor to distraction of your concentration because they already know you quite well and may not believe you have the capability to induce hypnosis.
Before taking your initial street hypnosis step, you should engage your participant in pretalk. This is mainly a conversation that lasts 3–15 minutes. In this stage, you need to eliminate your own fears and doubts and fully believe in your own hypnotizing skills while setting the stage through rapport.
With the new expression of street hypnosis, salesmen, politicians and anyone looking to influence the thoughts and actions of others are learning how to use it. And anyone can be trained in this hypnosis induction as long as you are willing. Just keep in mind that you can’t actually control another person if it goes against their own better judgment so always use it for the good of all.
